The Weldcote 308L is a stainless steel filler metal with an analysis similar to Type 308, but with its carbon content restricted to a maximum of 0.03%. This lower carbon level is critical as it significantly reduces the possibility of intergranular carbide precipitation. The 308L Stainless Steel is versatile, used for Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG), Metal Inert Gas (MIG), and Submerged Arc Welding of various stainless steel grades, including Types 201, 202, 301, 302, 304L, 305, 308L, 321, and 347. Additionally, this filler metal is suitable for demanding applications at cryogenic temperatures.
