Weldcote 4043 (commonly referred to as AlSi5) is one of the oldest and most widely used 5% silicon aluminum filler metals for both welding and brazing, available in spools for MIG or TIG welding processes. The silicon additions are key to its popularity, resulting in improved fluidity and wetting action that make it a preferred choice by welders. This metal is recommended for welding 3003, 3004, 5052, 6061, 6063, and casting alloys 43, 355, 356, and 214. Key specifications include a melting range of 1065°F–1170°F, a density of 0.097 lbs./cu.in., an average tensile strength of 27,000 psi, and an average yield strength of 18,000 psi, with the post anodizing color being gray.
