Unique flavor has made this white seeded Blue Lake variety one of the most popular home-garden bush beans in the country. Slow fiber and seed development contribute to Blue Lakes fresh quality over a long harvest period. The vigorous plants have good resistance to several strains of bean mosaic viruses common to the Northeast.

Instructions:
Select a sunny location and plant when all danger of frost is past and the soil has warmed. For best results, loosen soil with spade or fork, fertilize with vegetable food, and smooth over with a rake. Firm soil over seed and keep soil moist. For a continuous supply of fresh beans, plant every 3 weeks. Grows best in a soil with a pH between 6 and 7 and just a light application of fertilizer. Water at ground level to reduce the probability of disease. Pick beans every 2-3 days, when pods are 4-6 inches long and before seeds develop and the sides bulge. Hold the stem with one hand and pick with the other hand to avoid tearing the plant.
