James 4:6 "God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble." How do we receive God’s grace, something we all need, through humility? Some other terms for humility are gentleness, meekness, modesty, of lower degree, and unselfishness. Humility is not passive, though. Living this out daily is a challenge because it goes against our nature. God promised He would give us strength if we walked close to Him daily, with a humble spirit (our inner man), so we could hear God’s Spirit speaking to us. Pride closes the door to God’s Spirit, but humility opens it up. Humility gives us the strength to live out the golden rule: do unto others as you would have them do to you. May our daily actions of humility bless all who cross our path. Philippians 4:5 "Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near."
