Sage is a perennial herb native to the Mediterranean. It grows up to 2-3' in height and has woody stems and gray-green velvety leaves. Sage is highly regarded for its ability to enhance the flavors of various dishes. Use the leaves fresh or dried with meats, in stuffing, sauces, or in herbal teas.
Instructions:
Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Sprinkle seeds evenly and barely cover with soil. Mist with a spray bottle to keep the soil damp. Transplant to a full sun, well-draining location in late Spring. In the first year, harvest by pinching off individual leaves and be mindful of your harvest until the plant is fully established. Water regularly to keep the soil damp. Once the plant is established, prune back woody stems in the spring to encourage new growth.
