About- Sweet and tender, this turnip has a white root blushed with pink to purple at the crown. With 4 - 6" mature roots and nutritious young leaves, the easy-to-grow veggie is perfect for soups or baked alongside other root vegetables. Heirloom When and Where to Plant- Direct sow 3 weeks before the last frost in the spring or after the hottest part of summer for a fall crop. Prefers rich, deeply worked soil and full sun. Apply mulch to conserve moisture and control weeds. Care and Harvest- Harvest greens as desired. Small turnips have the most tenderness and flavor, so pull them when they reach a size of 1 - 3". To store, cut the top down to 1/2" and store in a cool dark place without washing off the dirt.
