600 V 90 A Triplexed Aluminum Wire

Triplex or URD cable is designed for use in distribution circuits not exceeding 600 volts phase to phase. These cables are available as single conductor or with one, two or three phase conductors and a neutral twisted together with no overall cover. The neutral is equal in size or to or two sizes smaller than, the phase conductors. These cables may be directly buried or installed in ducts. They may be used in wet or dry locations at conductor temperatures not exceeding 90 deg C for normal operation, 130 deg. C for emergency overloads and 250 deg. C under short circuit conditions. CONDUCTORS Conductors are hard drawn Class B stranded compressed 1350 aluminum per ASTM B-231. INSULATION The insulation on the phase conductors is black crosslinked poly- ethylene. The insulation on the neutral conductor is black crosslinked polyethylene with three continuous extruded weather resistant yellow low density polyethylene stripes, 120 deg. apart (TRISTRIPE). ASSEMBLY In multiplexed assemblies the phase conductors and neutral are twisted together with a lefthand lay not greated than 60 times the outside diameter of one phase conductor. MARKINGS Each conductor will bear the following surface marking ALCAN (initial of plant of manufacture), (conductor size), AL XLP 600V 90 deg. C (year of manufacture).
